Undergraduate Diploma in
Electronic Media |
This programme examines the process at work in news gathering and
field production of television industry. It is one of the very few
undergraduate programmes available in India where we aim to produce
knowledgeable technicians to work behind the camera. The Diploma in
Electronic Media offers you technical skill and an indepth
understanding of professional photography, video camera technique,
video editing technique and computer operation for television. As a
student on the programme you will experience full hand on practice
on equipment used in video production.
In professional photography you develop special eye for camera,
understand different aspects of photography such as studio,
commercial, product, nature etc. You practice taking photographs in
our well equipped studio using SLR film cameras as well as Digital
Still cameras.
In video camera technique you learn all skills of handling different
cameras including digital video cameras. You get enough practice to
work on single camera and multi camera setup. Lighting is most
important, so you get full exposure to creative lighting techniques.
In video editing technique you learn everything of electronic post
production where you handle video recorders, digital recorders,
vision mixers, audio recorders, audio mixers, online and offline
video editing.
In computer application for digital video production you start
learning computer from beginners level and cover most of the
softwares used for digital photography, digital printing, video
capturing, image processing, digital sound recording and non-linear
video editing.
This programme aims to provide you with fluency in still
photography, video camera operation and video editing, so you
present yourself as an employee or as a freelancer in the respective
trade.
Course Curriculum
- Diploma in Electronic Media with specialization in Video Camera
Operation. (to become a TV Cameraman)
- Diploma in Electronic Media with specialization in Video
Editing. (to become a Video Editor)
- Diploma in Electronic Media with specialization in TV
Presentation. (to become a TV Anchor or News Reader)
Note : Specialization subject has to be decided at the
beginning of second semester.
The course is divided into two semester :-
First Semester – Foundation Course – July to December.
Second Semester – Specialized Course – January to May.
Class timings –
Theory Classes – 3 days per week – 3 hours/day.
Practical Classes – 2 days/week – 3 hours/day – (in groups)
Computer application – 2 days/week – 1.5 hours/day – (individual)
Every Last Saturday – Examination of topics covered in that month.
Saturdays are generally
utilized for organizing seminars, special workshops, film shows,
outdoor shooting and related activities.
Examination Pattern
Group A – Internal Examinations
Programme is divided into two semesters, and there will be
examination at the end of first semester. Also there will be
examination at the end of every month (except April) as a
one paper covering all subjects and topics of theory and practical
covered during that month of study. Marks of these internal
examinations will be notified on final marksheet.
Internal examinations will be held at the end of August,
September, October, November, December, January, February and March.
Students must appear for at least 5 papers and 5 Assignments

To qualify for Diploma student must secure 35% marks in
individual subject and 40% aggregate. He/She must attend 80% of the
theory and practical classes. And all submission of assignments are
compulsory.
