(Common for all courses of Film & TV Studies)

First Semester : Foundation Course
-
Introduction to still camera, outdoor and
indoor photo exposing.
-
Introduction to Video Camera, it’s parts,
controls and calibrations.
-
Video Camera handling practice on stand and
on shoulder, working on composition.
-
Developing and printing of B&W prints.
-
Video Studio Equipment, Editing machines,
Special Effect Generator and Audio Mixers, understanding its
controls, calibration and making effective use.
-
Shooting small continuity, using single
camera and off- line cut to cut editing.
-
Multi camera shoot using four camera setup,
and on-line editing using special effect generator, character
generator and Audio Mixer.
-
Workshops on Creative Lighting, use of
floods, multi 10 solar, spots etc. alongwith reflectors,
diffusers, cutters, gels and other accessories.
-
Preparing floor plan and designing sets for
shooting.
-
Workshops on script writing for documentary
and fiction.
-
Practicals on computer throughout the year
for working on different projects related to Digital
Photography, Graphics, Sound Recording and Video Editing on
Non-linear setup.
Second Semester : Concentrate on
Specialised trade.
-
Workshop on visual Analysis (How to see films
through a film maker’s eye), Story analysis, Camera Analysis,
Continuity Analysis, understanding relations between picture,
dialogue, music and effects. Analysis of structure of film using
selected extracts as text material.
Directors, alongwith Reporters, Cameraman and Editors will collectively
produce the following as their Portfolio productions.

Video Desk Production – Educational Programme
using multi camera setup, special effect generation and online
edit.

TV Presentation and News reading using
multi-camera set-up (indoor) and single camera shoot (outdoor)
-
Music Video – Picturisation of song showing
proper lipsync shooting on multi camera and / or single camera.
-
Talk Show (antakshari type) using multi
camera setup, SEG and audiomixer.
Visual Analysis of different non-fiction films such as News
Bulletin, Documentaries, Talk Shows, Reality Shows etc, for it's
content and structure.

Professional production of video Documentary
using all kind of skills. Directors have to select topic, do
research write script, take permission to shoot, carry on
shooting, editing using narration, music, computer graphics etc.
The group gets exposure to total production process of
documentary film making (10 min.).

Professional production of Teleplay (story
based) the group director has to write script, develop
dialogues, create shot divisions, rehearse, shoot taking care of
continuity and edit using effects and music.

Plus four weeks practical training at
Doordarshan (refer to prospectus for details)
